The 6-day Umbwe Route is an exciting and demanding way to reach the top of Kilimanjaro. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Day 0: Arrival in Moshi

    Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your guide for a briefing and gear check.

  • Day 1: Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp

    Start at Umbwe Gate with a steep trek through the rainforest to Umbwe Camp, where the trail narrows and climbs rapidly.

    Elevation: 1600m/5249ft to 2850m/9350ft

    Distance: 11km/7mi

    Walking Time: 5-7 hours

    Habitat: Rainforest

  • Day 2: Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp

    Climb through dense forest into open moorland, reaching Barranco Camp with sweeping views of the Western Breach and Kibo Peak.
