Itinerary

Our Kilimanjaro Day Hike via Marangu Route is crafted for adventurers and those wishing to experience Kilimanjaro’s breathtaking scenery without summiting.

Pickup and Transfer: You’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha and taken to Marangu Gate, the starting point for your Kilimanjaro adventure. Upon arrival, you’ll register at the gate and meet your guides, who will provide a brief overview of the day.

Start of Hike: Begin your hike along the Marangu Route, trekking through lush rainforest filled with diverse plant life and wildlife. Keep an eye out for the playful black-and-white colobus monkeys swinging through the trees, as well as a variety of bird species and other animals that inhabit the area.

Exploration at Mandara Hut: Reach Mandara Hut, located at an altitude of 2,720 meters (8,923 feet). Here, you’ll have the chance to rest, enjoy a packed lunch, and take in the beautiful surrounding landscapes. Your guides will share insights into Kilimanjaro’s history, geology, and ecology.

Hike to Maundi Crater: From Mandara Hut, you can take an optional short hike to the nearby Maundi Crater, which offers panoramic views of Kenya to the north and the Kilimanjaro forest below. Maundi Crater is a perfect spot for photos and provides a glimpse of the volcanic origins of Kilimanjaro.

Return Descent: After exploring Maundi Crater, begin your descent back down the Marangu Route. Relish the opportunity to spot more wildlife and enjoy the serene rainforest as you make your way to Marangu Gate.

Return Transfer: Upon reaching Marangu Gate, your transportation will be ready to take you back to Moshi or Arusha, concluding an unforgettable day on Kilimanjaro’s slopes.
